The Peppermint Pig is Chart of the Week

Peppermint-Pig-Cross-StitchHow stinkin’ cute is this!? I’m pretty sure pigs and peppermints don’t get much cuter. I love these kind of samplers with fun themes and colors.

The individual motifs from the Peppermint Pig could easily be turned into holiday ornaments too.

The design is charted for Dinky Dyes and Crescent Colours threads, but if you’re stitching on a budget you could probably pull from your existing stash or substitute DMC threads for the stitching pretty easily.

Quote from Tempting Tangles About Peppermint Pig:

History of the “Peppermint Pig” – In many cultures over the centuries, pigs were considered to be good luck, and owning pigs signified financial well-being. In the Victorian era, a little holiday tradition began as a way of wishing that the coming New Year would bring only good things. A little pig made of pink peppermint- flavored candy was presented to all attending of a family’s holiday dinner. The peppermint pig was then shattered with a little mallet, and each diner shared a fragment of the candy as a symbol of good luck to come.
