Nora Corbett 2010 Christmas Tree is Chart of the Week

It’s hard to believe Winter Solstice is this week and Christmas is this weekend! This year has just flown right by. I mentioned Nora Corbett’s 2009 Christmas tree on Day 18 of Stitchmas, last year’s tree was so lovely in all that red. This year’s tree is a bit more traditional and covered in sparkling snow!

Again, this is a kit, but not in the fullest sense of the word. It includes the chart and instructions along with Crescent Colours belle soie silks (hand dyed), Mill Hill beads and treasures (7 packages) and Kreinik #4 3514 braid. You do need to add your own fabric for this one to be complete.

The model was stitched on Ocean Kiss linen from Wichelt, but you can choose any fabric that you prefer. In this case because of the snow I’d avoid stitching it on white fabric and go for a shade of gray or a nice hand dyed pastel, maybe something in sky colors.

I’ll be honest as charts and fibers go this one is a bit on the expensive side. However, with the beads, treasures, hand dyed threads, and metallic fibers you’re going to save quite a few dollars compared to buying all those bits and pieces separately in addition to a chart leaflet. So, in the end it’s a good deal for a beautiful cross stitch project.

Happy Stitching!
