Choosing a Fabric for DMC’s Design an Egg Contest

I noticed this week that DMC is holding a Design and Easter Egg Cross Stitch contest on thier blog. So, of course I had to come up with something, right?

I put together a few rough drafts and posted them on the Facebook community page for feedback – and the feedback was good. Next step was to tweak the colors and pull some fabrics out of the stash cabinet and start nailing down decisions.

I finally chose two floss colors and pulled five different fabrics out of the cabinet, but I couldn’t decide which one I liked better, which lead to doing floss toss and snapping pictures to post here and on Facebook again….

The five fabrics:
5 fabrics from my stash to pick from...

Silkweaver Goldspinner

Silkweaver Plum Pudding

Silkweaver Garden Promise

Silkweaver Pink Champagne

Silkweaver Parkland

I need to start stitching TODAY if I have any chance of getting the whole thing stitched in time to enter the contest before the deadline (March 31st) – eek! I honestly don’t know if I can stitch it up fast enough, but I’m going to try.

The good news is no matter what happens after the contest is over this pattern will be made available for you ;)

So, which fabric do you like best? You can comment here or on the Facebook community page today, I’ll be keeping an eye on both places and I added a new feature to the site that is supposed to merge comments made at Facebook right into the comment section here (very geeky cool!)

Thank you for your support and help with all of this, I really appreciate it!

Happy Stitching!
Loretta

About Loretta Oliver

I’ve been a cross stitcher since I was 8 years old. It was something I learned as a Girl Scout when we did a project for a badge related to crafts and the group choose to cross stitch a holiday design on a red sweatshirt using waste canvas. (Talk about hard first project, that was such a pain!) I was one of the first ones finished and I’ve had a needle in my hand almost every day since then.

I like Goldspinner, bur Parkland is a close second :)

  2. Plum Pudding and Garden Surprise have been eliminated from the fabric choices – down to three!

  3. I too like the Goldspinner! Good luck with getting it stitched up on time
