Critters! Day 24 of Christmas Cross Stitch

Welcome back to 25 Days of Stitchmas here at Stitching the Night Away where we’re counting down the days to Christmas with awesome cross stitch projects. Every day from now to Christmas we’ll take a look at two holiday stitching projects per day.

Tomorrow is Christmas Day! Are you ready for Santa? I confess that I am not ready, I got an early Christmas gift of strep throat and swollen glands, and I have to say that it was not a very nice gift at all and I would really like to exchange it. So, I’m going to rush through today’s stitchmas post, fill my boy’s stockings, and tuck myself right into bed with some Nyquil for the night.

I found this Boyd’s Bears stocking pattern and I thought it would be perfect this holiday for any Boyd’s Bears collector. And then I found this adorable Christmas Mouse ornament from Twisted Oaks Designs and just had to have him!

I hope that you and yours are well this evening and have a holiday weekend full of fun, laughter, and love.

Happy Holidays!

Here Be Dragons on the 23rd Day of Stitchmas

Welcome back to 25 Days of Stitchmas here at Stitching the Night Away where we’re counting down the days to Christmas with awesome cross stitch projects. Every day from now to Christmas we’ll take a look at two holiday stitching projects per day.

That’s right, I said dragons on Christmas. And why not? Dragons need love too.

The Mine All Mine stocking from X’s & Oh’s shows a dragon hoarding her holiday treasures.

The model was stitched on 28 Ct. Rosemary linen with DMC floss. Finished project stitch count is 152W x 225H.

And now I’m going to cheat a little bit because this next piece isn’t an ornament, a stocking, or a tree skirt, but it is one of my favorite holiday dragons.

It’s not just any dragon, it’s Santa’s Dragon by Dragon Dreams. I certainly like the idea of Santa having his own dragon to help him get through the obstacles of the night!

Model stitched on 28 Ct. Nordic Blue Linen using DMC floss, Kreinik #4 Braid (015, 091, 032-2, 850-2), Caron Waterlilies Silk #228, and Rainbow Gallery FZ15 White Fuzzy Stuff.

Project stitch count is 190W x 240H.

Collections on the 22nd Day of Stitchmas

Welcome back to 25 Days of Stitchmas here at Stitching the Night Away where we’re counting down the days to Christmas with awesome cross stitch projects. Every day from now to Christmas we’ll take a look at two holiday stitching projects per day. Can you believe Christmas is this weekend!?! Who’s excited? ;) I know I’m looking forward to a few days off and relaxing with the kids over here.

Today’s stocking choice isn’t just one stocking, it’s an entire collection of cross stitch stockings from Donna Kooler.

This sequel to the hugely popular Ultimate Stocking Collection is definitely more of a very good thing.

Fourteen whimsical-to-elegant designs give you beautiful ways to deck the mantel with cross stitched stockings.

Themes are varied to suit a wide array of individual interests. Alphabet charts are included so each stocking can be personalized. The easy assembly instructions ensure a perfect finish.

With this collection you can easily stitch a different stocking for every member of the family and maybe even a few more for the gift recipients on your “very nice” list.

So, it’s only fitting that our ornament choice today be a collection as well, right? This stunning representation of the 12 Days of Christmas from Stoney Creek was stitched on 28 count Water Lily linen using DMC floss, Weeks Dye Works thread, Rainbow blending thread, Mill Hill beads.

The best part of this leaflet is that it’s charted out so that it may be stitched as a sampler or as a center motif with separate ornaments. Stitch count for the full sampler project is192x190, the center motif stitch count is100x98 and the individual ornaments come in at stitch count of 45×45. Includes finishing instructions for ornaments as well.

Welcome back to 25 Days of Stitchmas here at Stitching the Night Away where we’re counting down the days to Christmas with awesome cross stitch projects. Every day from now to Christmas we’ll take a look at two holiday stitching projects per day.

Today’s projects are both full kits, so nice and easy shopping wise ;)

The set of Christmas Sayings Ornaments pictured above is from Dimensions and comes with everything to stitch up a full set of six ornaments.

I think the Joy Banner (also from Dimensions and pictured here to the left) complimented the ornament set very well and gave us something different from the usual stockings and tree skirts that we’ve been looking at.

Only four more days of Stitchmas left! Are you ready for the holidays?

Happy Stitchmas!

Angels! Day 19 of Christmas Cross Stitch

Welcome back to 25 Days of Stitchmas here at Stitching the Night Away where we’re counting down the days to Christmas with awesome cross stitch projects. Every day from now to Christmas we’ll take a look at two holiday stitching projects per day.

Renaissance Angel Stocking from The Vermillion Stitchery is simply beautiful. The model is stitched on 14 count Navy Aida with a project stitch count of 197 x 229.

Christmas angels are perhaps the most popular form of angels that are used in our celebrations. Angels are believed to be immortal, who live in Heaven, and act as intermediaries between God and Humankind.

Traditionally, pictures and poems on angels portray them having human bodies with wings sprouting from their backs.

‘Wings’ are said to symbolize Innocence, Virtue, Purity, Peace and Love, which place them above Humans though they are still under God.

It was the Hebrew Bible or the Old Testament of Christianity, which first mentions that angels had a human body and angel wings and could fly. (Just a little bit of Angel history and trivia)

Our ornament selection today is also from The Vermillion Stitchery, this Angel Ornaments pattern leaflet has eight different angel ornament patterns to stitch.

These ornaments can be stitched on white plastic canvas or your favorite evenweave or aida fabric and finshed in just about any way you’d like for decoration. They use DMC threads, but don’t be afraid to mix it up a little and add a little sparkle to things on your own.
