Holiday Sayings (and Kits) Day 21 of Stitchmas

Welcome back to 25 Days of Stitchmas here at Stitching the Night Away where we’re counting down the days to Christmas with awesome cross stitch projects. Every day from now to Christmas we’ll take a look at two holiday stitching projects per day.

Today’s projects are both full kits, so nice and easy shopping wise ;)

The set of Christmas Sayings Ornaments pictured above is from Dimensions and comes with everything to stitch up a full set of six ornaments.

I think the Joy Banner (also from Dimensions and pictured here to the left) complimented the ornament set very well and gave us something different from the usual stockings and tree skirts that we’ve been looking at.

Only four more days of Stitchmas left! Are you ready for the holidays?

Happy Stitchmas!
Loretta

Angels! Day 19 of Christmas Cross Stitch

Welcome back to 25 Days of Stitchmas here at Stitching the Night Away where we’re counting down the days to Christmas with awesome cross stitch projects. Every day from now to Christmas we’ll take a look at two holiday stitching projects per day.

Renaissance Angel Stocking from The Vermillion Stitchery is simply beautiful. The model is stitched on 14 count Navy Aida with a project stitch count of 197 x 229.

Christmas angels are perhaps the most popular form of angels that are used in our celebrations. Angels are believed to be immortal, who live in Heaven, and act as intermediaries between God and Humankind.

Traditionally, pictures and poems on angels portray them having human bodies with wings sprouting from their backs.

‘Wings’ are said to symbolize Innocence, Virtue, Purity, Peace and Love, which place them above Humans though they are still under God.

It was the Hebrew Bible or the Old Testament of Christianity, which first mentions that angels had a human body and angel wings and could fly. (Just a little bit of Angel history and trivia)

Our ornament selection today is also from The Vermillion Stitchery, this Angel Ornaments pattern leaflet has eight different angel ornament patterns to stitch.

These ornaments can be stitched on white plastic canvas or your favorite evenweave or aida fabric and finshed in just about any way you’d like for decoration. They use DMC threads, but don’t be afraid to mix it up a little and add a little sparkle to things on your own.

Red! Day 18 of Christmas Cross Stitch

Welcome back to 25 Days of Stitchmas here at Stitching the Night Away where we’re counting down the days to Christmas with awesome cross stitch projects. Every day from now to Christmas we’ll take a look at two holiday stitching projects per day.

Today we’re looking at lots and lots of RED stitching for the holidays.

This is Nora Corbett’s Christmas tree design from last year, (2009) but it was just so stunning and beautiful I thought it was worth mentioning this year too.

This is a cross stitch kit, not just a chart, but not in the “full” sense of the word kit. It includes Crescent Colours threads, Mill Hill Beads, Kreinik Braid, and graph, however the fabric is not included.

32ct white Belfast linen is recommended for the project, but you could most certainly use anything you’d like.

I think a very faint blue hand dyed fabric would be lovely with this piece, maybe something with a good bit of white still showing for a swirly kind of snow effect. A little opalescent fabric wouldn’t hurt either ;) I love the sparkly stuff. [Read more...]

Lizzie Kate! Day 17 of Christmas Cross Stitch

Welcome back to 25 Days of Stitchmas here at Stitching the Night Away where we’re counting down the days to Christmas with awesome cross stitch projects. Every day from now to Christmas we’ll take a look at two holiday stitching projects per day.

These cute little Snippets (I think that’s what they’re called) from Lizzie Kate are so darn cute I want to stitch them all! Stitch count is 70×70 so it could be an ornament, a pillow, a stand up box, a whatever you want it to be! Love that about small designs ;) Don’t Get Your Tinsel in a Tangle is my favorite!
