Threads of Joy is Chart of the Week

Threads of Joy Cross Stitch Pattern by Ursula Michael DesignsThreads of Joy by Ursula Michael Designs caught my attention this morning because I enjoy quilt designs, I don’t have the space here to really get into my quilting so I haven’t touched it in a few years.

But this design held my attention because I really liked the poem verse that it has at the bottom…

Families are like quilts…
Memories stitched together
with threads of joy
Hearts pieced with love,
growing more precious with time.

Design’s model was stitched on 28 count Antique White Cashel linen using DMC threads (click through to chart for list of threads and supplies) Stitch count is 154w x 214h, for a finished size of 11×15 when being stitched on 28 count evenweave or 14 count aida fabrics.

Sunflower Sam is Chart of the Week!

Sunflower Sam Cross Stitch Pattern designed by The Sunflower Seed Honestly, everyone in my house is ready for summer break and we still have a few weeks of school left to go. I’m trying to think warm sunshiney thoughts over here today and Sunflower Sam caught my eye. He’s ready to go for summer fun and 4th of July activities, perfect for getting into a cheery mood and ready for summer break.

Sunflower Sam comes from The Sunflower Seed (and there are lots of other cute sunflower-themed charts from them, of course) and the design is a quick stitch at about 80 stitches high x 60 stitches wide.

May The Force Be With You is Chart of the Week!

This weekend my family happily wished everyone a happy “May the 4th be with you” and celebrated Free Comic Book Day!

And then to top off a weekend of geeky goodness, my husband took the boys to see Iron Man 3 Sunday morning. It was possibly the best weekend of the entire year. (I didn’t feel all that great, so I skipped the movie.)

People are always asking me where to find legitimate Star Wars cross stitch patterns, and it would seem there aren’t all that many out there to be had. This one is titled May the Force Be With You (although those words don’t actually appear on the design itself) and was charted by Andrew Read for Cody Country CrossStitch.

Raise your hand if you watched Dr. Who this weekend.

I’m betting that you were too distracted with anticipation to get any stitching done during the show. Right? Here’s the perfect project to stitch when you replay the episode on your DVR for the second or third time…

Balloon Glow is Chart of the Week

Dimensions Cross Stitch Balloon GlowThis morning while I was getting the kids off to school I caught part of a news snippet as I rushed through the living room; something about FAA regulations that say hot air balloons can’t be within 500 feet of a cloud.

I walked around with these silly visions in my head of men teetering around with tall ladders trying to chase down hot air balloons so they can measure their distance from the clouds. I’m sure I must have missed part of that news story while I was helping Ethan find his socks, but the part I heard sounded so silly that it stuck with me all morning. Anyway, that’s what led me to look for hot air balloon designs this morning.

This is Balloon Glow, [Read more…]

Love Coffee from Mill Hill is Chart of the Week

Love-Coffee-Cross-StitchMill Hill’s newest cross stitch kits have been super cute. I know I said that about their last round of releases, and the round before that, but they have really been rocking things in the department of cute and easy to finish projects.

When I saw Love Coffee, I sort of instantly fell in love with it.

Ask any member of my family and they will all tell you that it’s best not to talk to me before I’ve had at least one cup of coffee in the morning. Sometimes I’ll have tea, but usually it’s coffee. My boys (currently ages 12, 13, 14, and 15) all know how to measure and brew a perfect pot of coffee. I’m not sure if that makes me the best mom by preparing them with a life skill or the worst mom because they consider it a necessary survival skill -LOL-

Complete Cross Stitch Kit Includes: Beads, charms, perforated paper, needles, floss, chart, and instructions. [Read more…]
