Paradigm Lost is Chart of the Week

LD09-Paradigm-Lost-SamplerI’ve been in a sampler kind of mood as the new year kicks into full swing today. One of the groups I’m in on Facebook had several folks sharing work on Long Dog Samplers over the weekend, so of course I had to look around at them.

Paradigm Lost caught my attention and earned a spot as chart of the week. I’m generally not a fan of samplers with alphabets on them, but every now and then one will win me over.

Happy Stitching!

Hot Chocolate Cross Stitch Ornaments

Janlynn Hot Cocoa Ornament Cross Stitch KitLast week’s chart of the week was also a Janlynn ornament set. I decided not to buy the owl ornaments when I saw these cute hot cocoa mug ornaments!

Hot chocolate is kind of a big deal around here. The kids love hot chocolate nights, they get excited about it and they take it pretty darn seriously.

They get festive and stir it up with candy canes, they look for flavor options like mint and white chocolate, they love flavored marshmallows, and sometimes we get adventurous and make homemade marshmallows just for hot chocolate. if we’re out shopping and I stop into Starbucks they want their hot chocolate in a red cup, and they savor every sip.

Thanks to Amazon Prime, my ornament kit should be here tomorrow! Yay :) Since chunks of my stash are still in a box from moving, I’ll be working on these over the holiday break.

You can get the set on Amazon at a great price (the owls and other sets are available on the same page too) Side note; if the cocoa mugs are showing out of stock when you get to the page, wait a few hours and go back. They were out of stock when I first found them and they were back in stock by the end of the day!

Happy Holiday Stitching!

Janlynn Owl Cross Stitch Ornaments: Creepy or Cute?

JanlynnOwlOrnamentsI am always on the lookout for owls to stitch up, and having a set of owl ornaments sounded promising. But two of these owls sort of creep me out with their eyes…

For the most part I really like Janlynn ornament kits, they have all sorts of cute groupings. And I really like owl designs to stitch. But for some reason I can’t fall in love with this set… those two owls are giving me the stink eye. Maybe I’ll just stitch the other four and skip those two?

Seriously… I’m not going to say which ones. You tell me what you think. Maybe I’m just seeing things where there aren’t things to see.
What do you think; creepy or cute?

The full Janlynn Owl Ornament Kit is available at a great price on Amazon.

The Lion King is Chart of the Week!

Lion-King-Cross-StitchThe Lion King is one of my boys’ all-time-favorite Disney movies. We had so much fun when we visited Animal Kingdom at Disney World back in 1996 and they were ready to pick up every Lion King souvenir and pin they could get their hands on that day. *sigh* we definitely need to go back and do that again someday.

Of course this Lion King design from MCG Textiles(which is actually a full kit with aida and floss provided) is the epic scene where they hold the new cub high for the kingdom to see and all the animals rejoice with pride and happiness. (and you can see Timon and Pumba there in the corner, too darn cute)

Celtic October is Chart of the Week

Celtic-October-Vickery-Collection-Cross-StitchI love all things Autumn, not just pumpkins and fun Halloween designs. It’s my absolute favorite time of the year, from September right through to December.

This chart caught my eye this week with the bright Autumn colors and, of course, the knotwork accents. So pretty!

Celtic October by Vickery Collection. Stitch count is 140w x 200h, and from what I can tell the model is stitched on white aida using DMC threads. Such an amazing use of color here, I honestly expected to find a list of specialty threads and overdyed floss, but according to the floss list those are standard DMC. Autumn colors are just the best ~ they don’t need any doctoring up 😉

Okay, enough gushing about my love of Autumn.

Mini Pumpkin by Jeannette Douglas is Chart of the Week

mini-pumpkin-jeannette-douglas-cross-stitch-samplerI tried to find a thread requirements list online, but couldn’t locate one. You can add the embellishment pack and fabric right from the shopping page, easy peasy. It’s a newer release design, so I’m sure there will be some thread requirements popping up online soon.

I’m kind of in love with pumpkins right now, as happens every October. Pumpkin stitching, pumpkin spice lattes (#PSL!), pumpkin pie, pumpkin cake, pumpkin brownies, and anything else I can add pureed pumpkin to!
