Every store I went to this week pushed Halloween items to the end of the aisle and started putting out Christmas decorations already, I even saw trees for sale starting today. Why so early? Heck, it’s not even October yet!
This week’s chart of the week is a design I came across while browsing the Counted Wishes Festival. The Fall session just started and runs through September 21st.
Northern Lights by Gracewood Stitches
131 x 305 Stitch Count, on 18 count aida measures 7″ x 17″. Stitches are all cross stitch and back stitch, using DMC cotton floss, use 1 or 2 strands over 1 square.
The designers notes about the piece:
Northern Nights is inspired by cold winter nights in our northern mountain home, Gracewood. The cold blue of the night and the soft golden glow of our home’s lights on the snowy landscape gave me some of the images for this band sampler. This piece is dedicated to our two guardian dogs, Zach and his son, Jubal, sadly no longer howling at the moon.
I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’m a fan of Imaginating and I love Halloween themed projects, so it’s probably not too surprising that I picked Halloween Night as chart of the week today.

Ghosts in flight
All are ready for
“Old Witch Mary” was just released by Lila’s Studio in July and it’s already flying off shelves with enthusiasm (as is the equally awesome Witches Brew pattern ~ the two together make a lovely pair to display!)
Old Witch Mary, quite contrary, How does your garden grow? With moss and slime, and poisonous vine, and toadstools all in a row.
Not everything for Halloween has to be spooky or stitched in 90% black floss. Walking Jack by CM Designs is fun, cute, and definitely still has the spirit of Halloween at heart.
It’s a quick stitch at only 104w x 90h stitch count and less than 10 floss colors required, so can reasonably have him all stitched up and ready for Halloween this year no problem.

I love stitching Halloween and Fall themed projects and this year’s kits from Mill Hill really have my attention. I recently ordered one of their other kits to have as my travel piece for our vacation next month and I didn’t see the Tangled Web kit until after I already placed my order. I’ll have to come up with a good excuse to make another order soon [Read more...]
