Stitching Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

Stitch Pink Bird from DMC

img from dmc-threads.com

Last year DMC ran a program where stitchers pitched in stitched pieces for a quilt to be auctioned off later raising much needed money to help the battle against breast cancer.

It looks like this is going to become a tradition and they are adding to the selection of designs that can be stitched, starting with this beautiful piece of a pink bird that you see pictured here. Totally awesome! Find out more and get the design by clicking here. [Read more...]

Goddess Bookmark Free Cross Stitch Pattern

This week’s free cross stitch pattern is the re-release of our ever popular Goddess Bookmark. She has been around the web and back again several times and I’m happy to present her here in PDF format for you this week as the Bookmarks for Literacy Project kicks off for this year!

I designed her to fit onto a pre-finished bookmark, but of course you can stitch her on any fabric you choose. The design is only two colors, the chart includes the two shades of purple that I used when stitching my own bookmark, but again you can choose any colors from your stash to customize the look of your Goddess. As you can see by the blue stitched example provide by Leigh, Goddess looks fantastic when using an overdyed thread to do the fill in. (Thank you, Leigh, for sharing!)

If you stitch this piece I would love to see your finished work. You can leave a comment here, send me an email, or share your photos on our Facebook community page!

Happy Stitching!

Dream Celtic Quilt Block Free Cross Stitch Pattern

This design was created as part of a charity project several stitchers at Stitching the Night Away did collaboratively for Love Quilts along with a few other free Celtic cross stitch designs from around the web and a few other inspirational words that I charted out.

If you stitch this piece I would love to see your finished work. You can leave a comment here, send me an email, or share your photos on our Facebook community page!

If you’re not familiar with it, Love Quilts is a cross stitch group that creates cross stitched quilts for children with life threatening or lifelong illnesses.

You can follow the design as charted or you can choose your own colors, as Becka did in the stitched example for the Love Quilts project. Design stitch count is 120×122 and was sized to fit within the guidelines of a 9×9 block just right so that there wasn’t a lot of white space around the design.

Happy Stitching!
Kind Regards,
Loretta

We chose a theme and we all stitched at the same time and I sent our entire group of blocks in together so they could be finished into a quilt. This is the finished quilt with all of our group’s stitched quilt blocks…. We’re actually hoping to do this again this year!
