It’s time for another giveaway. I told you I was doing a bit of spring cleaning and I would have some fun giveaway items coming up. Let’s kick things off with some interesting reading material: Patterns of Murder by Monica Ferris. This book is the first three books in the Needlecraft Mysteries series all combined into one book for easy reading.
The first thing to note about this giveaway is that this is actually the copy of the book that I purchased a few years ago, so it is gently used. The cover is a little bit worn from being carried around in my bag and sitting on my bookshelf, but overall it is in very good condition. I know receiving a gently loved book isn’t as exciting for everyone as it is for me (I love books that other people love!) so there might just be a few little surprises tucked away in the package as well. After all, I am cleaning out the stash cabinet over here.
So about the book(s)…. Patterns of Murder includes the first three books in the series; Crewel World, Framed in Lace, and A Stitch in Time.
Crewel World ~~ When Betsy arrives in Excelsior, Minnesota she winds up settling in and taking a new job at her sister Margot’s needlework shop.
It seems things are finally going her way – until Margot is murdered. In a town this friendly no one seems like they could have done something so horrible. But Betsy isn’t going to rest until she finds her sister’s killer…
But to find the murderer, she’ll have to put together a list of motives and suspects to figure out this killer’s pattern of crime… Includes a beautiful embroidery pattern!
Framed in Lace ~~ The historic Hopkins Ferry is raised from the bottom of a lake and everyone is stunned when a skeleton is found on board.
But the evidence is a bit soggy; the boat sank in 1949.
The victim was a woman and an identifiable lace-like fabric was found nearby. Still, with a little help from the needlecraft shop patrons, Betsy intends to sew up this mystery…
As always, includes a needlework pattern for your stitching pleasure.
A Stitch in Time ~~ Minnesota winters may be freezing, but Betsy’s heart is warmed when the best needleworkers in Excelsior volunteer to help restore a damaged tapestry that was discovered in a church basement. Betsy even donates the materials for the restoration project, hoping the publicity will boost her shop’s sales.
She soon realizes that her good intentions may have uncovered secrets that someone will kill to keep…
This third book in the Needlecraft Mystery series introduces a few new characters into the mix, including Betsy’s ex “Hal the Pig”, while also discussing the ups and downs of taking over her sister’s shop, learning how to run the business, build relationships and more.

I’d love to be entered in the giveaway – my two passions are crafting and reading! I also love second hand books so a gentle used book is fine with me 🙂
I’ve just finished reading Little Face by Sophie Hannah.
Love giveaways…thank you for doing this! 🙂
Nancy
Found it! I just finished reading Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix…looks like another good young adult series and can’t wait to read the next one. Just light reading in between college terms 🙂

I love books, new or used. I love needlecrafts. I love free stuff. So this opportunity for a chance at a give-away is tailor made for me.
Oh, yeah, reading The Leopard by Jo Nesbo, the English translation, not the original Norwegian. Wasn’t sure at first, but it is well written and well translated. I have read translated books that are literal translations, with no allowance for idiom – they can be hard to read because the sentence structure sometimes interferes with understanding meaning. Don Bartlett has done a fantastic job on the translation.
Yay! Great giveaway!
LOve mysteries and needlework – perfect combo
Oh my I’ve been wanting to read her books!
Oh my goodness! These books have been on my reading wish list for awhile and have been wanting to get my hands on them, they sound so intriguing! Thanks for the opportunity to win! Far out!
Would love to read your gently used version of this book!
So I commented before using the widget! Right now I am reading The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. (Read the Hunger Games months ago!)
I have been looking at the crafting story books for a while now. I’d love to see if they are any good for myself!
What an awesome giveaway!! I wasn’t even aware these books existed, but now I’m dying to read them! 🙂
Melody
I haven’t been reading lately, due to an extremely busy time. These stories would be great to cause me to slow down to read. Anything about fibre art is always very interesting.
I’ve been wanting to start reading this series of books so I hope I am the winner. Thanks for the chance. 🙂

I’d love to be entered in the giveaway! 🙂 Would love to be able to read the series.
I’d love to be entered in this giveaway – thank you for offering it!!
Love to give this mystery book a good home….thanks
I love mysteries, but nothing too gorry (not into the vampire stuff). Thanks for entering me in the giveaway. I’ve just returned to stitching after some time away. I’d love to win! :)…
Books! Yes my other “my precious” obsession!!!!!
I have a 2 hour drive to work and back, so I am now listening to Hunger Games but Shelly Laurenston is one of my guilty pleasure reads and she just recently released Bear Meets Girl. This will be a quick read for me and then I can go back to reading Sunflower’s by Sheramy Bundrick, a novel about the last 2 years of Van Gogh’s life.
I think my favorite part of this is seeing what everyone is reading 🙂 (and adding to my own Amazon wishlist as I do so) I think I might need to add a “What I’m reading” feature on the blog here to go along with the “What I’m stitching” section!
Thanks for the giveaway! I have 2 major hobbies one is reading and the other is stitching. Combining the 2 is awesome. Can’t wait to see who wins
I just finished reading Monica Ferris’ Buttons and Bones- ok, I reread it! I love all her books, as well as needlework, and would be thrilled to have this compilation of her first three books.
This sounds really cool; I’ve never heard of this such thing before-a novel with patterns. I’d love to win this! I love stitching and reading, especially mysteries!
P.S. Right now I am reading Adam by Ted Dekker.
I have just finished reading Pandemonium, the second on the Delirium Trilogy by Lauren Oliver. Technically, it’s young adult fiction (and I am no longer a young adult!) but I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the Hunger Games.
I got to sit next to Monica Ferris at our EGA seminar when she was the guest speaker. What a cool lady.
Reading and stitching are my passions. It would be wonderful to win this contest. Thanks for the chance.
Bobbi
Currently reading a James Patterson novel….and have read several Monica Ferris books in the past!!
I’m reading The Lost Girls of Johnson’s Bayou. I’d love to win this contest so I’ll have something lined up to read when I finish that!
I would love to give your ‘gently used’ book a new home. 🙂
Congrats Brandy!
Weee! Yay! Thanks! emailing you back right now. 😀
