January Stitching Challenge

starWhen I looked back at my year in stitching review I realized that I did not make enough time for my stitching, which in turn means that I did not make enough for *myself* throughout the year – time to just sit, enjoy a cup of something steamy and relaxing and stitch the worry away from my day. No wonder I was so stressed out and cranky some days (right?)

My word for the new year is happiness. I intend to take more untraveled paths, spend more time just being *happy*, and surround myself with positive energetic people.

As part of that I need more than just Monday afternoons reserved for a little bit of stitching time and I really want to get back to stitching every day like I used to, because it made me happy, I enjoyed picking up my needle each day, and it definitely relieved a lot of stress and I found myself worrying less.

My challenge to myself in the month of January (and you if you’d like to join me) is to stitch at least two smalls all the way to completion. I figured two finishes is a good way to start off the new year right and if I start small I’ll get that feeling of accomplishment to push me through the bigger more time consuming projects.

I do hope you’ll join me in my stitching challenge or create a unique challenge for yourself to fit with your own stitching habits and goals for the month of January.

Happy Stitching!
Loretta

My stitching challenge is to finish the projects that I have already started before I start a new one. For each i finish i give myself permission to start a new project. My projects will stay small and manageable.

I’ve tried to do that myself a few times and I never seem to succeed, new starts just call to me from the stash cabinet.

My goal is to finish this current row on my HAED by the end of July. I’m almost done with the 1st page, and have 5 more to go. In between each page I would like to stitch a little Mill Hill piece. I did purchase the nativity set, so I’m planning to start those.

I probably will join you! I have several large projects, so focusing on a few smalls is a great way to keep it fresh and new. I am excited for my new year!

I just finished 3 smalls which is the size of ATC for exchanges and 1 medium size which is a Margaret Sherry’s “Tennis Partners” on a tea towel using waste canvas. The design is from The Cross Stitchers magazine, Issue #228, pg 73. I am stitching on a BAP but I doubt if I can finish it by end of January. It is called “Red and Yellow Maple Leaves” which is a chart from Japan.
