Sometimes Just Looking at My Stitching Makes Me Feel Better

I just haven’t been stitching as much as I would like. Literally just a few stitches at a time, if any at all.

I’m dealing with major all over inflammation for the millionth time and it just makes everything feel so much harder and more exhausting than it actually is. My scissors might as well weigh a hundred pounds. Add to that the need to do things like work and going buy groceries, and it isn’t leaving much energy left for stitching at the end of it all.

So I’m stitching a row here, a row there, and leaving my stitching set up in my stand next to me even if I’m not working on it.

But in all of this dealing with inflammation and autoimmune disorders stacked on top of one another, I’ve found that sometimes I feel better just getting my supplies out and setting up as if I were going to be stitching all day and all night can make me feel better, even if I don’t place a single solitary stitch on the fabric. And at this point, anything that makes me feel even a tiny bit better is a win.

I totally know how you feel and what you are going through. I have a genetic disease called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and along with that comes a lot of ailments.

So when I can’t stitch due to chronic pain, I do keep my cross stitching next to my bed and I look at cross stitch sites on Facebook and just enjoy the pretty projects that people are working on until I feel better or get my mojo back 🙂

I have Fybromialgia as weel as rheumatoid arthritis. I find that if I do nothing with my hands the swelling and inflamtion is worse the next day. I stitch to keep myself together. Hope you feel better soon.

I so relate to you ladies. I did all kinds of needlework for years. Then I got Reflex Sympathic Dystrophy , fibromalygia and had several neck surgeries. Its been 5 years and I’m beginning to stitch for maybe 15 min. at a time if that and that causes pain. So for Great Grandchildren I’m trying to make 1st birthday bibs and first Christmas bibs leaving the handprint and Christmas Stockings to the Grandmothers. I have 3 due by August so starting now. I hope all of you feel like stitching soon.

Nice to not feel so alone. I have Psoriatic arthritis, along with rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and many other health problems. I had both hips replaced two years ago, at the old age of 54. Now my knees may need replacement, actually it’s just a matter of when, not if. My salvation was crafting of any sort, but now my hands are being affected too. I try to do something every day, even just a little. Thanks for listening. Cdahlgren at live dot Com

I have MS and fibromyalgia. I think a person just cannot have one autoimmune disease. Not only do I not feel like stitching or knitting, which are the only things I’ve done for the last few years, I haven’t done any of my other crafts for so long, I’m not sure I remember how. I also slipped on the ice a few weeks ago and have a broken hand. Sympathy abounds to all of you!
