I wanted to write my own response to the thankful stitching blog prompt, because my hobby is something that I am extremely thankful for. The question I asked for Blog Hop #12 was…
When it comes to the stitching part of your life, what are you most thankful for?
I gave this question so much thought when I posted it and I could honestly go on for days about the things that I am thankful for in regards to my stitching. I may not get to stitch every day like I used to, but the days that I do stitch are often the best days of each week. Stitching relieves my stress, melts away the worries of raising a family for a few hours, and just brings my mind to peace.
It’s like meditating with a needle and thread for me. I often have difficulty clearing my mind and decompressing everything, so for this aspect of my own stitching I am extremely grateful. Otherwise I’m pretty sure I would explode.
In addition to all of that, stitching gives me a creative and artistic outlet. Stitching has allowed me to meet wonderful amazing people online, an entire community of people that share in the joy of needle and thread, people that “get it” and know how much it means to me and understand completely when I say that stitching brings me sanity. I also get to share my own charts and designs with that community – add another layer of joy and thankfulness here because managing the Stitching the Night Away website is almost as therapeutic as stitching itself, I love sharing with all of you and I love being able to spread the joy of stitching to new people every day.
I’m thankful for all aspects of my stitching life, they make me whole and they keep me sane. Thank YOU for being a part of that and for hanging out here in my little stitching corner with me.
