Stitching, Quilting & Tiles Oh My!

I’m not nearly as crafty as I wish I was. I went through a quilting phase and in all honesty I was pretty good. But I quickly found I loved picking out fabric and designs more than I had the time or patience to actually quilt. This frustrated my poor mother more than words can possibly convey. But that’s another story entirely.

I’ve tried my hand at cross stitching several times in my life and that too I’m not so great at. If I had to pick, I suppose the best thing I can do is crochet. I learned how to crochet when I was very young but I don’t really do it. Again, I love picking out all the pretty yarns and I’m excited to get started but somehow I manage to start several projects and finish none.

Making Money Cross Stitching & Crafting

I’m constantly on the hunt for money saving tips and small business ideas. I can’t begin to list all the hours I’ve spent online searching through spammy offers or just wishing I could come up with one perfect business idea that I could start that could be started on a budget.

The experts say, “To do what you love and the money will follow.” I wasn’t always sure that I subscribed to this way of thinking because I never felt like I was good at very much when it came to art and crafts. So, I started by making a list of things I am good at and or those things that maybe I wanted to learn to do. In a previous post I mentioned that I am not good at cross stitching and that is still true. But, I am however good at quilting and crocheting.

Organizing the Craft Closet On a Budget

craft suppliesAlthough it doesn’t feel like it in some parts, Spring has begun. I’ve been preparing for this time of year for a couple weeks by going room to room to decipher what to toss, what to keep and what to donate. In doing so, one thing became abundantly clear; almost every room in the house needs more closet storage, from the kitchen down to the laundry room. But the area with the greatest need for a makeover is the craft closet.
