Raise your hand if you watched Dr. Who this weekend.

I’m betting that you were too distracted with anticipation to get any stitching done during the show. Right? Here’s the perfect project to stitch when you replay the episode on your DVR for the second or third time…

Rainbow Ladybugs Cross Stitch Bookmark Chart of the Week

Rainbow Ladybugs Cross Stitch BookmarkThis Ladybug Bookmark from Casey Buonaugurio Designs would make a great project for this years Stitching for Literacy, which starts April 6th (and that’s also my oldest son’s birthday! YAY)

I think this would also make a nice gift or even a great beginner stitching project if you’re helping someone get started and want them to be able to do a complete project without worrying about framing or fancy finishing techniques.

The chart model is stitched on a prefabricated Charles Craft Lace Ivory bookmark with DMC floss and the project stitch count is 113W x 24H.

Happy Stitching!

Stitched by Cynthia

This is one of my favorite free patterns here on the site. Okay – maybe they’re all my favorite, but this was one of the first free patterns I offered way back when.

Cynthia used 28ct Mercedes Cashel Linen and DMC threads in 550 an 3837 to stitch up her Goddess.

If you stitch this or any of the other patterns available from Stitching the Night Away I would love to add your photos to the gallery too! You can email them to me or post them in our Facebook community.

Sampler Bookmark Stitched by Peggy M.

This is Sampler Bookmark, a free stitching pattern here at Stitching the Night Away as stitched by Peggy M. When I charted this design I intentionally didn’t assign any colors to the stitching because I wanted to see all the beautiful variations that stitchers put into it. So far I have not been disappointed!

It always amazes me how different each one looks when stitched in a different color set, especially when it’s done in a variegated thread like this. Beautiful work, Emilie, thank you for sharing it with us!

Stitching WIP Green Dragon Bookmark

Still working on Green Dragon Bookmark (design by Dracolair) over here – feeling like the slowest stitcher ever lately. I’m stitching him on 32 count Belfast Linen Silkweaver Solo Mini – and I forgot how nice Belfast is to work with, it’s been awhile since I used some. Beautiful fabric. So here is my current progress…

WIP Stitching Green Dragon Bookmark

He’s actually starting to look like a dragon now. Compared to my previous progress on him.

So what are you stitching this week? [Read more...]

Sampler Bookmark Free Cross Stitch Pattern

This sampler bookmark stitching pattern is a fun with everything kind of pattern.

You choose the fabric, the threads, and have some fun with the stitching! You can use scraps of leftover threads from other projects, you can use an overdyed thread, you can try something new if you want. Some of these are considered specialty stitches, but feel free to wing it if you’re just trying them out for the first time.
