I had hoped to stitch *two* of the fall Mill Hill kits this month, but things have been busy lately so it looks like I’ll only get one stitched up. I just realized I haven’t posted an update on this project recently, I’m such a slacker. But there is progress and I’m well past half way now.
Christmas decorations are out in stores already? Say what!?! But it’s not even Halloween yet. (*stomps foot and pouts*)
Every store I went to this week pushed Halloween items to the end of the aisle and started putting out Christmas decorations already, I even saw trees for sale starting today. Why so early? Heck, it’s not even October yet!
To celebrate the beginning of Autumn, without jumping to Christmas quite yet, this week’s chart of the week is part of Stoney Creek’s Snowman of the Month Series – the October Snowman. [Read more…]
I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’m a fan of Imaginating and I love Halloween themed projects, so it’s probably not too surprising that I picked Halloween Night as chart of the week today.

“Old Witch Mary” was just released by Lila’s Studio in July and it’s already flying off shelves with enthusiasm (as is the equally awesome Witches Brew pattern ~ the two together make a lovely pair to display!)
Old Witch Mary, quite contrary, How does your garden grow? With moss and slime, and poisonous vine, and toadstools all in a row.
Not everything for Halloween has to be spooky or stitched in 90% black floss. Walking Jack by CM Designs is fun, cute, and definitely still has the spirit of Halloween at heart.
It’s a quick stitch at only 104w x 90h stitch count and less than 10 floss colors required, so can reasonably have him all stitched up and ready for Halloween this year no problem.

This Spooky House from X’s and Oh’s looks like it came right off the set of a Halloween movie, I love it!
It’s a pretty large design compared to many of the smaller Halloween patterns that are out there and popular right now, (240W x 211H stitch count) but so very worth the time and effort to stitch.
The model was stitched on 32 count Thunderstorm linen by Zweigart with DMC floss and Kreinik #4 Braid (052F, 025, 3280). The Kreinik 052F is one of the glow in the dark threads (grapefruit), so that will add to the spooky effect, awesome!

… and it’s on sale! bonus )
I know I’m ready for some Halloween stitching and when I mentioned it the other day it seemed like a lot of you were too! This is one of my “goal” pieces for this year, Sleepy Hollow by Glendon Place. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to stitch the entire thing, but I at least want to make it that far through my to-start pile and get a little bit of it stitched, with the hopes of finishing it next year in time for Halloween.
In a grave lies the horsemen,
his head is at his side.
Be brave enough to take it,
and again by night he will ride.
A few of the things you’re going to need to stitch this design:

~3 spools of Kreinik #4 Braid – colors are 4001, 4004, and 105C
~Mill Hill Beads – MH03007 and MH03022
~Waterlilies Threads – Lemon-n-Lime
~The recommended fabric is a cut of 18×27 28ct Haunted Cashel from PictureThisPlus
