Cotton & Twine Cross Stitch Goodie Boxes

I’ve received subscription boxes from a few different places over the years, for cross stitch and for other things like coffee and fun snacks. My first Cotton & Twine package was an absolute delight to open. Let’s take a peek at what was in the February box…..

Cotton & Twine subscription box for February 2019

Cotton & Twine subscriptions come from the Historical Sampler Company in the UK. Each month’s package includes an exclusive stitching project (varying between cross-stitch and tapestry) packaged together with gorgeous gifts and tasty treats.

Cotton & Twine stitching kit and hoop for project display
stitching kit for the February pattern (fabric & presorted threads) + hoop for display
painted gift tags inside the Cotton & Twine stitching subscription box
super cute painted wooden tags
Green tea and Sherbet pips that were included as treats in the Cotton & Twine stitching subscription box
delicious treats, as promised! a nice green tea and fun sweets to enjoy while stitching

This was a really fun box. I love the idea of having a stitching kit and some nice little treats for myself. I was nice, I did share the pips (there were a lot of them packed into that little box!) I look forward to seeing what other goodies show up in the months to come 🙂

Simple Semicolon Free Cross Stitch Pattern

I received the most lovely email from a reader about some of my patterns here at Stitching the Night Away, in particular about This Story Isn’t Over Yet. She asked if I would chart a small simple semicolon, something around 3-inches in size, that she could stitch and turn into various gifts for her support group. Of course that sounded like an amazing idea and I charted it up for her right away. I’m happy to share that design here in case anyone else would like to do the same.

Temperature Themed Cross Stitch Patterns

Not exactly SALs, but yet they sort of are and you’ll find plenty of folks stitching these around the world each year. It’s a fun project and everyone’s result will be different every time 🙂

Bella’s Block Ornament

Bella's Block Cross Stitch Ornament (stitched)
$2.00

The model was stitched on 28 count opalescent Lugana fabric, a ‘solo’ piece from Silkweaver Fabrics. Finished block is 41 x 41 stitches in size.

While I do include a floss key for the colors I used to stitch the piece, I do encourage you to choose your own colors to match your holiday decor or to suit the cross stitched ornament gift that you’re creating for someone. Have fun with it, use up some leftovers from your stash, or pull out those hand dyed threads you’ve been ‘saving for later’ to try out.

Bella's Block Cross Stitch Ornament Finished and Displayed on Tree

Whatever colors you decide on, I look forward to seeing your finished ornament. I hope you’ll come by and share a photo with me in the Stitching the Night Away Facebook group, use hashtag #stitchingthenightaway and/or tag me @retta719 on Instagram, or even email me directly.

Finished Peace Tree by M-Designs

update: fully finished object! I picked up a silver frame while we were holiday shopping and finally did something with the Peace Tree so it could be displayed for the holidays.

I finished Peace Tree by M-Designs the other night during the lunar eclipse. (It was amazing to watch, by the way!) I accidentally deleted my progress pics before I uploaded them to Flickr (oops!) so I don’t have my usual slide show progress video to share for this one, just the finished pic.

I stitched this over one using DMC 500 floss, Mill Hill frosted glass seed beads #62047, and the purple star Mill Hill treasure for the topper on a 28 count evenweave Silkweaver Solo dyed fabric. It’s hard to see in the picture, but the fabric has tints of purple and green in it, which is why I chose the beads and floss in those colors.

It’s been awhile since I did tiny stitching over one, so it took me awhile to get this one done, about two and a half weeks total I think. I didn’t have as much stitching time as I’d like to have had, but when do we ever, right? I was a little worried at first that it was going to be a difficult project, but once you get going on it things come together pretty quickly!

Thanks for stopping by the check out my stitching 🙂

Happy Stitching!

Stitching Ink Circles design Cirque des Triangles on 28-count opalescent Lugana hand-dyed fabric from the Ship’s Manor Little Orphan Fabrics collection with DMC# 0029

cirque de triangles work in progress photo

I’ve only just started and I’m already in love with this project. I absolutely see how people find this series addictive, because I already want all of the other ones.

Thanks for checking out my stitching 🙂 Have a beautifully stitchy day!
