Let’s go ahead and start the stitchy interview and get to know Shaunterria…

What’s your favorite type of cross stitch project to work on?

My favorite type of cross stitch project to work on changes season by season. In the fall, ornaments and Christmas projects are tops for me. In the winter, I like working on large, fully stitched pieces. Springtime is all about smaller, brightly colored pieces, and the summer is a bit of everything. I have at least one of each of those types in my rotation now, so I can get a bit done year-round.

Do you have a favorite designer?

I do not have just one favorite designer, but my top three right now are Lizzie Kate (of course), Jane Wooster Scott through Heaven and Earth Designs, and Mill Hill. I have a lot more to add to this list, but these three are all over my wishlists.

How big is your stitching stash?

I have a baby stash right now – I don’t have the room to buy as much as I’d like but I am working on it 🙂

How long have you been stitching? How did you learn?

I’ve been stitching for two years now, and I first learned by reading tutorials and watching videos on YouTube. I have also picked up a lot of great tips and tricks through cross stitch groups on Yahoo.

Do you have any “in real life friends” to share your stitching with in person, or maybe a local stitch-n-bitch with a local stitch group? Tell us about it so we can be jealous if you do 😉

I belong to the SoCal Cross Stitchers group and we meet up once a month or so to stitch together. I would like to find some stitchers closer by to stitch with once a week, but I need to find a good location first…stitchers need to be comfortable!

What project finish are you most proud of?

VeryScaryMysterySampler-ShaunterriaThe project I am most proud of is one I am still working on right now, L*K’s Very Scary Mystery Sampler.

This is my first time stitching on linen and with overdyed threads, so it has been an exciting process for me.

Bonus question: Add anything you’d like to share here about stitching!

I still consider myself a newbie stitcher, so I look forward to learning more and sharing my journey with others who love the craft and the community 🙂

Thank you for sharing your stitching and your enthusiasm with us here today, Shaunterria, we really appreciate it and we look forward to you upcoming blog posts here at Stitching the Night Away as a new contributing author. Welcome, and thank you again!

Everyone, please leave a welcome comment below and then take a moment to check out Shaunterria’s blog and Facebook to stop by and say hello. Happy Stitching!

I wish I had a local group of stitchy friends! It is a sort of lost art and it just doesn’t seem people are stitching as much anymore.
