Big List of Cross Stitch SALs to Join in 2026

Well, 2025 was…something. Let’s all just agree to make 2026 a good year to the best of our abilities, starting with some fun stitchy time 🙂

Before we get to the list, I just want to say, please don’t feel like you can’t participate in a stitchalong based on how fast you stitch or how much time you have to stitch. Stitch at your own pace, enjoy the pattern, and don’t worry about keeping up with other stitchers. It’s more about the community feeling and the fun of the pattern than the time in which you stitch the piece. I have SAL patterns (free and paid) from previous years that I haven’t even started the actual stitching on yet, but I enjoyed watching the pattern pieces come together and seeing progress photos in the community. It’s okay to not “keep up” as long as you’re enjoying the journey.

I’ve rounded up as many as I could find, but there’s always more being announced and some really great mid-year starts as well, so keep an eye out. If you see something out there that hasn’t been mentioned, please drop a comment below and let us all know where to find it.

Temperature Cross Stitch Patterns…

I know that not everyone considers these stitchalongs, but I think they still count, some have Facebook groups or Instagram hashtags to follow along with, and they’re fun to work on, so I like to include them here as well. Of course, this is also not a complete list, just a sampling, and there are always more patterns to be discovered out there.

The idea for temperature patterns is a little section of stitching for each day of the year and the color of thread is based on your local outdoor temperature on that day. Some projects use the average for the day, others use the high and the low for two bits of stitching per day. It’s a fun project and everyone’s result will be different, and of course each year’s stitch will also vary based on the weather.

Stitchnmomma Temperature Block Sampler

I like the layout of this one because it has a block for each month. You’ll find an overview of this design along with the ordering information at https://www.stitchnmomma.com/cross-stitch-patterns-misc/temperature-block-sampler and the pattern is also available to order from several needlework shops.

Climbing Goat Designs Rainbow Temperature Patterns

So many lovely temperature patterns from a spiral galaxy, a moon phase pattern, a cute little garden, or a big rainbow, all available via the Climbing Goat website or Etsy.

Peppermint Purple Bookshelves Temperature Stitch

Includes instructions on how to create your own key (both F and C) so it is suitable for your region ie, the highs are lows are appropriate. Available at https://peppermintpurple.com/products/books-daily-temperature-chart

ExLibrist Gothic Cathedral Window Temperature Stitch

Customized Cross Stitch Annual Heatmap from Tanglewear

Each column of the heatmap is one day, with high temperature at the top to low temperature at the bottom. You can also choose a timeframe that is not a calendar year (maybe a special-to-you year) for a unique and interesting stitch. Available on Etsy. There’s also a blackwork temperature themed piece from this shop that’s lovely.

Satsuma Street ‘Local Conditions’ Temperature Chart

I’m getting beachy vibes with the rows of sandcastles (I think?) available via Etsy

Little Bear House Designs ‘A Year in Flowers’ Temperature Stitchalong

Tiny Stitchery Co 2026 Moon Phases Temperature Cross Stitch Pattern

I love that this incorporates the moon phases of the year along with the temperature for a beautiful piece, available via Etsy

Cross Stitch by Vanya Musical Temperature Tracker

For this tracker, each day is a musical note in the finished piece. By the end of the year, you’ll have a one-of-a-kind embroidered sheet of music, reflecting the rhythm of your seasons and the story of your year. Available via Etsy

Great Big List of Cross Stitch stitchalongs to Joing in 2026

The Stitch-a-Long List is a Work in Progress All Year…

This is certainly not an exhaustive list of all the stitch-a-longs and groups that are out there in the cross stitching world, but it’s a good starting point if you’re looking for an SAL to participate in. I’ll try to update this post as often as I can to include new SAL discoveries throughout the year.

If you know of a stitchalong or are hosting one that I haven’t mentioned, please leave a comment below or send me an email about it to point us in the right direction to join and stitch along!

Be sure to like, pin, and share this list to enable a stitchy friend 🙂
