I want to take a little time each week to get to know the members of the stitching community as a whole, stitchers, designers, enthusiasts, we all love needlework and we all are passionate about what we do. Let’s share our passion and get to know each other a little better.
The lovely Pat Harding is our featured stitcher this weekend and is also a member in our Stitching the Night Away Facebook community.
Let’s jump right into the stitching questions…….
What’s your favorite type of cross stitch project to work on?
My first love are samplers, but I like almost all kinds of cross stitch.
Do you have a favorite designer?
How much time do you have?? Lizzie Kate, Sue Hillis, Waxing Moon, Just Nan, Glory Bee, My Big Toe Designs, Sam Hawkins. I’m sure there are more but I can’t think of them.
How big is your stitch stash?
Enough to last 3 lifetimes! I know I’ll never get to stitch all that I have, but just looking at all the beautiful designs is like going to a museum to me. I enjoy that so much.
How long have you been stitching? How did you learn?
I’ve been stitching since 1974. I took up cross stitch when my father was in the hospital and it gave me something to do during those long hours. Self taught.
Do you have any “in real life friends” to share your stitching with in person, or maybe a local stitch-n-bitch with a local stitch group? Tell us about so we can be jealous 🙂
I taught my best friend to cross stitch, then I moved away and she’s dropped it for now. We keep talking about getting together and have our sit ‘n’ stitch time together again.
What project finish are you most proud of?
I’m unable to post pictures, but I’d have to say the one I’m most proud of isn’t a big project at all. In fact it’s pretty small. I made it for my mother and she got such joy out of it. That’s why it’s my favorite. She loved baskets and it had a very pretty basket with wildflowers in it with the saying, “Mom, you are loved.”
Bonus question: Add anything you’d like to share here about stitching!
Stitching brings such joy to my life. I always wanted to paint, but the images in my head did not transfer to my hand very well. With cross stitching, the material is my canvas and the floss are my paints.
A big thank you to Pat for sharing her joy of stitching with us!
If you would like to be part of our stitching community feature please contact me any time and I’ll get back to you with a question sheet so we can get your post on the schedule.
Happy Stitching everyone!

It is always so nice to hear about other stitchers finding as much joy as I do in cross stitching.
