Obvious Things, a Sherlock Holmes Inspired Silhouette and Quote Cross Stitch Pattern

The Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are my absolute favorite pieces of literature. I’ve read all of them at least twice, and many of them thrice. This particular quote is taken from The Hound of the Baskervilles…

Sherlock Holmes Silhouette and Quote: The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.

The War Doctor Quote Free Pattern

The War Doctor, without an official number or a fancy catch phrase, making the most difficult decision and fighting The Time War… Portrayed by actor John Hurt in the 50th Anniversary episode, The Day of the Doctor, along side the beloved 10 and 11 of David Tennant and Matt Smith.

It was a quote-filled episode for sure, but this moment sticks with you. Okay, the whole thing sort of sticks with you as a Doctor Who fan, there’s a lot of emotion and powerful storytelling packed into that anniversary special. (random side note for ’80s kids, John Hurt was also The Storyteller)

Great men are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame.

Always Some Madness in Love

My favorite Nietzsche quote. Quite possibly my favorite quote of anyone ever.

Maya Angelou Quote “Be a Rainbow” Free Cross Stitch Pattern

rainbow-in-cloud-representationMy kids and I love this quote from Maya Angelou. It’s such a beautiful way to remind ourselves to be kind to each other because you never know what storm someone else is weathering in their life. Giving a smile to someone may be the small thing they need to help lift them up again.

Since the first time I read Letter to My Daughter this quote has been stuck with me and I’ve used the phrase with my kids on many occassions in teaching them to be be kind to other people.

With the recent passing of Maya Angelou, my youngest son has recently taken this quote to heart even more than before and he has been using it quite frequently. He asked me to chart it out so I could stitch it, frame it, and hang it near our front door. Once I had it charted out, of course I wanted to share the pattern with everyone as a free gift here.

The truth of the matter is, you are all rainbows for me. Having such a wonderful community of stitchers and crafters means so much to me, you are the reason this website even exists. This pattern is being made free to everyone to celebrate that spirit of community and the passions that bring us all together.
